Traditionally, people have commuted by cars, buses, trains, and subways, to work and back. You would no longer have to worry if the car will start, if your clothes are neat, or if youre perfectly groomed. That may still be important to you, but it no longer has to be. And you are no longer interrupted by the idle chatter that inevitably takes place at the central work place - some of it useful for your work, but a lot of it is just a waste of time and a perpetual interruption.
